Access Program Years 10-12

Access is a school subject that all students in the senior school undertake one lesson per week.

The purpose of Access is assist students to reach their potential as well rounded and capable citizens.  The course responds to emerging issues or changing priorities within the school and society.  Career education is a major focus in Access and students will also complete a Certificate 1 in Work Education.  These nationally recognised competencies will appear on the senior statement and contribute 2 points towards the Queensland Certificate of Education.

The course revolves around six themes which form the basis of individual developmental units in each year level.
  • Career Education
  • Drug and Alcohol education
  • Health including relationships
  • Independent living skills
  • Leadership
  • Student skills
The program also includes the preparation for the Queensland Core Skills Test for students who are interested in obtaining an OP score.

Assessment will be by the completion of competencies via work booklets, tests and teacher observation.  Students will be provided with a range of workbooks, Speakers, Leadership opportunities and a personal copy of the Job Guide and QTAC Guide.
