Offered for the first time in 2007, students will do hands-on projects, as a class, in groups and as individuals. They will focus on problem solving and on the practical applications of science to the growing of plants for recreation, food and the environment. COURSE OUTLINE In Horticulture, students will learn about the science behind plant growth, production and use. The exact projects completed will depend on the interests of students. Some possibilities include:
ASSESSMENT SUMMARY It is intended that assessment items will require less written work than other sciences. They may include:
PATHWAYS Horticulture would be a suitable subject for students who aspire to traineeships, apprenticeships or on-the-job training in fields such as: Landscaping, Farming, and Retail, such as Nurseries and many others. |
