Innovate Program

Embracing the future

Today's students need to develop a flexible disposition that gives them the confidence to embrace change for the opportunities that it presents. Innovate builds these attitudes.

21st Century Skills

Students use cutting edge technologies to design, develop and evaluate innovative and creative technology solutions to real life problems in a collaborative and entrepreneurial business context.

WHAT DO STUDENTS LEARN?

Entrepreneurship

Students are taught to seek out and recognise opportunities for innovation and business success. They will engage in projects within and outside the school that teach them to look for opportunities and build innovative solutions.

Responsible citizenship

Students develop a deep understanding of the social and ethical implications of the technologies and the communities that they affect.

Academic Rigour

Students are extended in Mathematics and Science while learning English and Humanities in the context of real world problems. Students are prepared for entry to high level extension subjects in subsequent years.

Where does this happen?

Our Junior Secondary Technology block features state of the art classrooms, an Industrial Technology and Design space and a practical Art space.

How do students enter the program?

Students apply to join the program in the same way as they apply for the Forest Lake SHS Lighthouse classes through a test taken in Year 6 and consideration by the school of academic and attitudinal data. Students are expected to bring their own technology device as a pre-requisite for entry to the program.
