Year 8 Information Communication & Technologies

Year 8 ICT is an introduction to computing course that will give students the skills and confidence to use computers effectively in many scenarios.  This course enhances computer literacy and provides a general overview of computer and information concepts.  Students will be exposed to a variety of software that includes the Microsoft Office suite of products, Photoshop and multimedia programs such as Audacity, Photo Story 3 and Movie Maker.

Year 9 and 10 Computer Education 

Computer education is a hands-on computer and technology based subject where students will have the opportunity to design and develop products and communicate with others using modern media and technologies. They will also consider the social and ethical issues resulting from modern information and communication practices.  In Year 10, students have the opportunity to gain a vocational qualification (Certificate I in Information, Digital Media and Technology).

Year 10 Computer Management Systems

Students will:
  • learn the fundamentals of programming and management of data and systems
  • explore Computer Management Systems as both a practical and theoretical subject which investigates how computers work; and 
  • gain skills in data management, programming, interface design, development and evaluation.

Year 11 and 12 Information Technology (VET)

Students work with computers and software on a practical level. The training package is competency based. Students who complete this course have the opportunity to obtain ICA20111 CERTIFICATE II in INFORMATION, DIGITAL MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY.

Year 11 and 12 Information Technology Systems (Queensland Studies Authority Subject)

Information Technology Systems seeks to prepare students to meet the rapidly changing needs of a digital society and be responsive to emerging technologies and trends, as well as understanding specialist and technical aspects of the area.  It also provides students with the opportunity to develop skills for related areas of employment seeking qualified information technology workers.
