Student services and support programs

Forest Lake State High School provides a range of support services and accesses community support services, for students with personal or academic needs, which affect their schooling, or inhibits their capacity to reach their individual and educational goals.
Telephone the school administration on 3714 2333 for further information about how the student services staff can assist you or to make an appointment.
Support staff and services include:
Guidance Officers (GO) - Lina Law and Lauren Davis (Mon - Fri)
Provide guidance and counselling services to students on a range of matters related to course and career planning, tertiary entrance, family and relationship issues, mental health, and educational support. 
Success Coach (SC) – Jo Sever
Works with students to identify goals strategic to improvement of their school performance and coach students in undertaking the actions required. Provide support to teachers and parents/guardians to resolve any behavioural, relational or wellbeing issues. This may include liaising with, and connecting students with, external agencies.
 
School Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN) – Laura Shelley (Mon & Tues)
Provides support for students who either self-refer or are referred by staff members on health related matters. Supports and delivers lessons and programs regarding sexual health education, drug and alcohol education, and a range of physical and mental health issues.
Youth Support Coordinator (YSC) – Jasmine McPhail (Thur & Fri)
Provides support to young people and their families to address issues contributing to risk of homelessness or early separation from school. Also supports young people to address issues that are affecting their ability to complete or achieve in education and training.
Community Education Counsellor (CEC) – Julie Knox (Tue, Wed, Thurs)
Provides support and guidance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to assist them to successfully complete their secondary education. This includes learning programs, mentoring, academic extension activities, tracking/coaching students to enhance performance, health and cultural immersion activities. 
Polynesian Liaison Officer (PLO)Sam Motu (Mon - Fri)
Provides support to Maori and Pacific Islander (MPI) students and their families. The Polynesian Liaison Officer monitor student attendance in class, liaises with other support personnel to provide personal support, visits families with other support personnel to assist engagement, supports student participation in extra-curricular activities and provides learning and behaviour support for MPI students.
Student Welfare Worker (SWW) - Joseph Peseta (Wed & Fri)
Provides support to senior Maori and Pacific Islander (MPI) students and their families. Monitors student attendance in class, liaises with other support personnel to provide personal support, visits families with other support personnel to assist engagement, supports student participation in extra-curricular activities and provides learning and behaviour support for MPI students.
Transition Pathway Officer (TPO) – Ros Bowd (Tue)
The TPO works closely with students who are at risk of disengaging from school by exploring alternative educational options.
