Guoxiang a year 12
student, applied for and won a scholarship to attend the International Science
School at Sydney University in the June/July holidays. One hundred and forty
students from eight countries (Australia, China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand,
India, New Zealand and United Kingdom) have been accepted for a two week
residential program of talks by world renowned scientists, including a
theoretical physicist and cosmologist, a nano scientist, an astronomer, and
science guru of TV and radio, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki.
BIG – big experiments, big discoveries,
big ideas. Guoxiang attends with no cost to himself. The scholarship
is valued at approximately $3000 and covers air fares, accommodation, food,
events, activities and a book of the lectures.
Guoxiang is a focused and diligent student; he
combines five OP subjects with university studies in mathematics. This
semester he is completing a first year subject - Calculus and Linear
Algebra. He combines his studies with his responsibility as school
captain. We congratulate Guoxiang on his selection to be part of this
prestigious program and look forward to his report and photos when he returns.
