Forest Lake State High School is proud to partner with WesTEC Technical Training and Pathways, a regional Pathways Hub connecting schools, students, industry, training providers and the wider community.
WesTEC provides students in Years 10, 11 and 12 with opportunities to explore career interests, develop practical skills and complete nationally recognised vocational education and training qualifications while at school. Eligible qualifications can contribute credit towards the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and support pathways into further study, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.
Through partnerships with Registered Training Organisations and industry, students can access hands-on training in industry-standard learning environments. Pathway areas include:
- Construction, plumbing and electrotechnology
- Automotive and autonomous technology
- Engineering, manufacturing and aviation
- Health and community services
- Hospitality, cookery and tourism
- Hairdressing, barbering and retail cosmetics
- Supply chain operations and food processing
- Business, justice studies and real estate
Course offerings range from Certificate II qualifications through to Diploma-level programs and may vary each year.

As part of their senior phase of learning, students attending WesTEC can integrate a vocational pathway directly into their learning program. This approach supports academic achievement alongside practical skill development and preparation for life beyond school.
WesTEC programs combine classroom learning, practical training, industry placement opportunities and personalised pathway support to help students build the skills, confidence and experience needed for their future.
Students have the opportunity to:
