Background

In early 2021 our staff pledged to contribute to achieving reconciliation with our First Nation community.  Following a day of workshops, staff determined that a mural placed at the entrance of our school would illustrate to the community, our commitment to reconciliation.

Renowned local Artist, Jenny Kent of Manamana Dreaming worked with our students to create a vision of reconciliation, that incorporates the thumbprints of all students, staff, Elders, partners in education and local community members to symbolise our united commitment.

Community Day

In December 2021 our community came together to place their thumbprint on the mural and included local Elder Uncle Albert, our Bronco's mentors, Scott Prince, Beryl Friday and Justin Hodges, as well as our incoming Year 6 students.

Strength in a United Identity

In 2020, past teacher Tammy Baart, a Dharug woman, created an artistic interpretation of our school identity.

Artists vision...

Students and staff from many cultures meet at  a common ground.  What will we be known for?  What will we achieve together?  The beads of opportunity can provide a future yet to be written.

Forest Lake SHS is a place where students and staff come into one space. Through turbulent waters and progress, a united approach will be achieved.  The journey towards shaping our identity (orange beads) will spearhead (arrow) strength.
