Forest Lake State High School deploys a BYOxLink platform that allows students to connect personal electronic devices to the schools network.

To establish the new connection, students need to undertake the steps provided at the bottom of this page via a system called Microsoft Intune. This connection process must be completed at home.

Microsoft Intune is a mobile device management platform that will also assist your child in being able to:

  • Access the school Wi-Fi network and have school email automatically set up and configured
  • Access the school’s learning applications and websites
  • Self-manage their personal device

Please note that 5.0Ghz wireless capability is essential to connect to our school network.

Windows 10.1607+, iOS 11+, MacOS 10.12+ operating systems are compatible with the BYOxLink service offering.

Antivirus is required to be installed on any BYOx device. Windows Security (formerly Windows Defender) is sufficient and is included on all WIndows 10 devices.

Things that are not compatible with the BYOxLink service offering:

  • 2.4GHz wireless devices
  • Windows RT
  • ChromeOS
  • Trend Micro internet security

Due to the nature of the Android operating system, only some Android devices are able to be connected to the school network. Please visit the helpdesk in the CRC during opening hours (before school and lunch one) so that the IT Technicians can investigate the individual device and provide more information.

Please visit Purchasing a BYOx device page for the minimum specifications needed to connect to our school network.
