Professional Choreographer Workshop Experiences
Students learn and perform pieces choreographed by guest artists and have the opportunity to participate in various individual workshop experiences. Exposure to professional artists includes, but is not limited to, The Hood Dance Academy, The Homebase Studios, The Queensland Ballet, Raw Dance Company, Elements Collective, CLI Studios and independent contemporary and hip hop dance artists.
South-East Queensland Dance Eisteddfods
Students studying dance curriculum are eligible to audition for our Dance Performance Troupes in Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre dance genres. The Troupes compete at various Dance Eisteddfods throughout South-East Queensland including the Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge, the Brisbane Eisteddfod, Beenleigh Quota Eisteddfod and DanceLife Unite regional championships.
House of Champions
Students in Hip Hop performance troupes compete in the annual House of Champions Hip Hop competition. Students participate in workshops at The Hood Dance Academy in preparation for the event.
Sydney Tour – DanceLife Unite National Championships
Successful troupes from DanceLife Unite regional championships have the opportunity to compete in the DanceLife Unite National Championships in Sydney. In addition to performing in the National Championships, students participate in workshops of various dance genres with industry professionals hosted by DanceLife Unite and at the renowned Brent St Studios. Forest Lake State High School has experienced much success at the National Championships in various sections, including our Senior Hip Hop troupe being awarded Grand National Champions in 2018 and 2019.
