Last week 8 of our senior Maori and Pacific Islander students attended a 3 day Pasifika LEAD camp at the Tallebudgera. Pasifika LEAD (Legacy, Education, Achievement, Dream) is a Griffith University-led outreach program designed to broaden the educational aspirations of Maori and Pasifika young people and is offered in 15 schools.
Our students engaged in many workshops and activities geared to develop their teamwork and leadership skills, enhance their career aspirations and embrace their cultural identity. They also made wonderful memories with new friends during the talent and cultural nights. Most importantly, they have established strong connections with Pasifika mentors already on their tertiary journey.
This was the first time our students have participated in this camp and already there is much excitement for next year.
